CAREER

 

Management Services – Internal Audit Department – AHOLD NV.

January 2006 - Present Interim Management Services, Coordination of the compliance activities of the Internal Audit Department at the Corporate Office in the Netherlands.

The assignment includes initial test activities, remediation of the control and design deficiencies of AHOLD Sarbanes Oxley control procedures, coordination with the external accountant (Deloitte), and other process compliance projects.

 

Management Services Sarbanes Oxley Controls and Procedures – Océ NV. 

January 2005 – November 2005 Management Services, coördination of implementation of Sarbanes Oxley Control and Reporting Procedures in the Manufacturing Facilities in Venlo and Munich-Germany of the Dutch Printer and Copy Machine Manufacturer. The assignment includes development of documentation, test procedures, training, reporting implementation (application: BWise) and management of the local Project Teams.   

 

Consultancy Services Sarbanes Oxley Controls and Procedures – Shell Exploration & Production BV

2004, 2nd.half  – January 2005 Consultancy Services as member of the WW Core Team responsible for the coördination of the development and implementation of the control and procedural documentation to all entities (including joint-ventures) of the Shell Exploration and Production BV in the world. 

 

Special Projects / Packaging Study, Aureole Ltda. 

2003 – 2004: Consultant services and evaluations of the European Market for Special Packaging and Applications.

The customer is a Brazilian Consortium of 40 Packaging Manufacturers, headed by Aureole Ltda., São Paulo. 

 

Fast & Fluid Management/IDEX Corporation

2002 - 2003: Vice President F&A International (EMEA and the Far East).

Following the liquidation of BaByXL, I became employed on project basis with Fast & Fluid Management International, an American Public company. The company manufactures equipment to the chemical, paint and food industry and has manufacturing facilities in Holland, Italy, Australia and wholly owned sales subsidiaries in 5 other European countries. Achievements: identification and clean up of overstated earnings incurred (and published) during the past 4 years. Reorganization of the administrative and finance departments and management of the implementation of the J.D.Edwards ERP system. Implementation of the Sarbanes-Oxley required control procedures. 

     

BaByXL BroadBand DSL

2000 – 2002: Chief Financial Officer of a starting company in the Broadband business in The Netherlands.

The shareholders were: ABN/AMRO, NESBIC, Crescendo and Continuum (Lehman Brothers).  

Achievements: start-up and implementation of a commercially and operationally successful organization.

In the function, I prepared the business and financial plans and made presentations and road shows to the international venture capital investment community.

 

Hewlett Packard

1998 – 2000: Finance Manager of the EMEA Service Division.

Additionally, I was responsible for the Site Management of the Customer Care Center in Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Achievement: Reorganization of the European Service Division and its split into market segment focused separate divisions (3x). Upon completion of this project, I continued in the "dual" function, mentioned above.

The total cost base of the organization amounted to approx. US$ 200million, total workforce 2500 persons.

 

Sinalba Ltda. Salvador, Brazil

1995 – 1998: General Manager and owner of a small construction company (road construction and maintenance), North-East of Brazil. (Active Manager through 1998, owner till present)

 

Philips, São Paulo, Brazil

1994 – 1995: Controller and Deputy General Manager of the Lighting Division in Brazil (temporary assignment).

Achievement: restructuring / consolidation of Brazilian manufacturing operations.

Consolidation of the South American Automotive Lamps production lines into 1 manufacturing facility. 

Environment: annual revenues: approx. US$ 300million.

 

Dupont de Nemours/Berg Electronics – EMEA (1989 – 1994):

 

1993 – 1994: Sr.Vice President and Statutory Director, responsible for the Finance, Data Processing and Administrative departments. Member of the board of directors of the Dutch and French Companies

Achievement: Sales (80%) of the Dupont Electronic Division to Hicks Muse in 1993 (company renamed: Berg Electronics). 

1989 – 1993: Director of Finance / Data-Processing and Deputy General Manager.  Member of the Management Team.

Environment: Electronic Dept./Connector Systems Division - Western Europe, annual revenues US$ 500 million, 3 manufacturing plants, 13 commercial country organizations.

Achievements: 1.reorganization of the EMEA organization, and 2. Successful negotiations with the Dutch Government and reversal of a claim from Ministry of Economical Affairs into additional investment subsidies in the value of US$ 3 million.

 

Shell do Brasil SA. (1975-1989):

 

1987 – 1989: Finance Director and Deputy General Manager of the independent Amazon basin based Oil Distribution Company, named Petróleo Sabbá. 

Environment: Petróleo Sabbá is a 80% Shell owned Company that operates in the northern part of Brazil.

 

1985 – 1987: Finance Manager and member of the Management Team of a Shell/Alcoa joint venture, named Alumar.  Alumar is a combined Alumina Refinery and Aluminum Smelter facility in the North of Brazil, São Luis (MA).

 

1984 – 1985: Industrial Engineering Manager and member of the Management Team. Responsible for studies and optimization of operations, evaluation and development of capital investment projects, operational and capital budgets.

 

1981 – 1984: Project Manager assigned to the combined Alcoa/Shell team. Exercised the joint responsibility with my Alcoa colleague for the design and construction of the Alumar facilities, São Luis, Brazil (investment: US$ 1.8 billion).

 

1980 – 1981: Plant maintenance and project supervisor at an agro-chemical manufacturing plant of Shell Quimica in São Paulo, Brazil.

 

1978 – 1980: Project Engineer and Construction Office Manager of a lube oil additive manufacturing facility.

This project was a joint venture between Shell and Lubrizol Corporation. 

 

1975-1978: Cost Engineer and assistant to the project manager at the joint venture between Shell / Petrobras.

The project comprised the construction of a polypropylene plant (Capital investment: US$ 110 million)
